Found this at a nice little Beverage Shop near the PA-DE border that featured a lot of not easy to get sodas (including Mexican Coke!) Even though the label on this Old Original Levi's Champ Cherry Soda says "PHILLY'S FAVORITE SINCE 1895" I had never once in my lifetime of living in and around Philadelphia come across this label. What's even more messed up is that it's bottled in Jenkintown; a stone's throw away from where I live! Anyways, I love cherry sodas and looked forward to tasting one brewed close to home.
Well, I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. This isn't all that good. It tastes more like a red cream than a cherry soda. It does have some cherry flavor (which is either natural or artificial since the label says "WITH NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS"), but lacking any citric acid flavor to give it some tartness. And I can't understand why I taste vanilla cream. As a red cream, it would be pretty good, but it just isn't the cherry soda it advertises itself to be.
Sweetened With: "High Fructose Corn Syrup and/or Sugar"
Verdict: Worth trying at least once
