Chai Cola

Chai Cola

Found this along with that other Taylor's Tonics beverage, Cola Azteca, at the Wegman's near where I work. Yes, it has been a while since I reviewed that Cola Azteca, but you must understand; that Cola Azteca was some really horrible stuff. Coming from the same bottler, I had next to no hope that this Chai cola would be any better.

Well, it is a little better than that other Taylor's Tonic. It's not as bitter. Slightly sweeter. And the tea flavor actually does mix in pretty well. They use black tea, which is one of my favorite teas, so that's probably why I kinda like this. Also helps that one of the flavorings in the ingredients is vanilla. There is a little bit of a bitter aftertaste that might turn off some, but it's not quite as bad to me. Kind of like the aftertaste from Moxie. So this definitely isn't for everyone.

Maine Root Sarsaparilla

Maine Root Sarsaparilla

I've seen Maine Root sodas in quite a few places (mainly their flagship root beer), but the high price usually keeps me away. That is until I found this one, their sarsaparilla at a natural food and vitamin shop in Willow Grove, PA. I've never seen this variety of theirs and since sarsaparillas are hard to come by anyway, I splurged on the high priced beverage ($1.99 per bottle!) so I could get in a review here.

As for taste, it's really good! Nice bite. Nice earthy flavors. But it is on the sweet side. Not too sweet that it makes me not like it, but more on the sweet side than I expected. Even so, I do like it a lot. So if you can find it, do try it--that is, if it doesn't break your bank to do so!

Fresh Ginger Ginger Ale

Fresh Ginger Ginger Ale by Bruce Cost

I forgot where I found this one, but I kinda scratched my head when I look at it. Why call it a ginger ale, when there are little bits of ginger at the bottom of the bottle? I knew this would really fall into the ginger beer area with that little detail. Also, this has to be the one of the shortest ingredients list I've ever come across for a soda: "Carbonated Water, Pure Cane Sugar, 100% Fresh Ginger and Citric Acid." That's it!

Well, I guess less is more as this is really darn good. Yeah, it is definitely a ginger beer rather than a ginger ale so it's got a lot of bite, but it is very sweet. Not overpoweringly sweet, but nicely sweetened. Yeah, this is definitely one of the best ginger ale/beers I've ever had. Do try it if you find it!
