A-Treat Sarsaparilla

A-Treat Sarsaparilla

I'm beginning to find out that A-Treat has a wide variety of soda flavors which I think is really darn cool for a fairly small-time bottler out of Allentown, PA. And one of those flavors is this Sarsaparilla. I was kinda skeptical about this since, well, being based in PA, I can trust their Birch Beers and Root Beers since PA Dutch Country is known for those types of drinks. However, Sarsaparilla is more of a Western and/or Southwestern drink, so I had my doubts about this.

I needn't have worried because this is a decent brew. Has that distinctive sarsaparilla taste that separates it from tasting like a Root Beer or Birch Beer with some nice herbal flavors--maybe even a tiny bit of licorice flavoring. The sarsaparilla flavoring could have been a little stronger, but considering that this is supposed to be a budget type soda, I'm willing to forgive them for that. I can also swear I taste even a bit of honey. Sad that only those of us in PA will be able to get some of this or other A-Treat drinks.

Sweetened With: "High Fructose Corn Syrup"

Verdict: worth a case or two
